RBSS's video equipment lab is a critical component and unique by-product of software development. The video equipment lab consists of a fully functioning video communications network with equipment ranging from H.323 and MPEG devices, ATM switches, and MCU's to standard analog devices. The software development team develops and tests its software products to perform in a variety of network environments and maintains hardware neutrality.

The Software Development team may configure video networks that combine DS-3, ATM and ISDN transmissions with MPEG and H.32X video compression protocols in the lab to simulate customer's networks during new product development and testing, as well as final pre-installation testing. For any prospective network application, the software has to pass the tests in the lab before it is tested in the field.

The project management and installation teams use the video to test their preconfigured servers prior to sending them to the customer site. This testing accelerates the installation process. The onsite installer only needs to change minor configuration parameters
(i.e. IP addresses of equipment) before demonstrating a working system to the customer.

The video lab is available to the customer support group to simulate customer environments to aid in the troubleshooting of any network related problems. The customer support group uses this environment to keep themselves familiar with the various hardware systems used by RBSS's customers.
